While we work with many other supportive community partners, including
churches, businesses, healthcare agencies, non-profit organizations, donors,
and community volunteers, the above listing represents agencies and
organizations that regularly attend the monthly networking meetings
of The Georgetown Project Collaborative. In addition to agency members,
there are also consultants and community volunteers who actively participate
in the Collaborative.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Georgetown Project has an Advisory Board, representing health and social
service agencies, who set goals and provide input and guidance on developing
priority issues and initiating collaborative projects. Current Board of
Advisors Task Forces are:
▪ Parent Support/Family Involvement
▪ Substance Abuse Prevention
▪ Positive Youth Development
▪ Early Childhood Intervention
▪ Mental Health Services
Role and Function:
The Georgetown Project Collaborative serves as a community coalition that
provides a process and forum for creative and collaborative problem-solving
regarding issues affecting children, youth, and families in Georgetown.
The Board utilizes the following strategies:
- Establishes linkages
that ensure collaborative planning to develop solutions to health and social
service issues affecting children and youth in the community.
- Monitors information
that can be utilized to address community issues.
- Facilitates a planning
process that offers an opportunity for inclusive community participation and
community consensus building.
- Assists with
prioritizing Georgetown Project driven initiatives.
- Utilizes the
Developmental Asset framework as our philosophy of community change.
The Georgetown Project will provide tools
for community organizations, parents, and youth to utilize in meeting evolving
community challenges. These tools include:
ü
An ongoing assessment of community conditions
related to children and youth.
ü
Regular identification of priority concerns and a
centralized point of contact to develop action plans to fill those gaps.
ü
Mobilization of multiple sectors of the community
using multiple strategies to address priority issues.
ü
Continuing community education and awareness
efforts about the Developmental Assets.
